    • Other sites we loveThere’s so much greatness going on in the world of sports blogging, writing and podding right now and there’s some really exciting sites that show true creativity and innovation to provide you with never-ending entertainment. Here, we take a look at some of these sites, so why not take a look at them and see what you think. Feel free to let us know if you think we have forgotten any or if you think that your own site or blog is worth a place. Football Football League Betting Column Gavin Horsfall’s weekly betting previews for League One and Two are where you can find the anytime notebook, wandering centre halfs, penalty taking full backs and midfielders pushed up front for the final 20 minutes, all waiting to be unearthered at decent prices. The Equaliser Fine football writing at its best, The Equaliser provides an intelligent insight into world football. The site has also spawned some great collaborative blogging series such as the 20 Greatest Managers and My Favourite Footballer. Football Fairground Scream if you want to go faster! Football Fairground is the base for a number of great features and blogs such as the Bundesbag, a weekly round-up of all things Bundesliga, Football Americana and Jeu de Jour. It boasts great writing and good humour throughout and if that’s not enough, it also hosts the Sound of Football podcast. Bravo. Les Rosbifs An excellent site that focuses on researching and sourcing English players of all levels plying their trade abroad. With great interviews and brilliant insight into the many leagues based abroad that aren’t covered by our mainstream media. The Swiss Ramble The Swiss Ramble is a blog of the highest quality and manages to focus almost purely on the financial side of football. A great insight into some top clubs and how their finances may or may not impact the football on the pitch. Left back in the changing room Rob Marrs is the author of this blog and he takes a wide-ranging look at the football world with occasional posts on cricket too. Some great posts have come from this blog, often causing great debate on Twitter too, where Rob resides under the name @MarrsioFootball – check him out. Who ate all the pies Ollie Irish is the man in charge here and you can’t fail to be impressed with this excellent site where the focus is on great writing, regular features and all things weird and wonderful in the footballing world. Not to mention the fantastic WAG index that should win numerous awards all by itself. Iain Macintosh Iain Macintosh is a fine writer of all things football. A writer for The New Paper in Singapore by trade, his blog is a way for us in the UK to keep up with his thoughts. Oh, not to mention his excellent series of Football Manager posts, following his success as manager of Heidenheim and now Woodlands FC – hillarious stuff. Narrow The Angle This blog is a little different albeit different in a great way. The posts and articles you will read here tend to stray away from bog-standard coverage that you will find elsewhere and, instead, offers an eclectic range of subjects from Retro football footage to paying homage to Danny Baker. Intelligent and witty, it is one blog to keep an eye on. Touchline Views Touchline Views is another great football blog that likes to cover as many different angles of the sport as possible. While it is ran by one guy, he often invites guest contributors to add their input which results in a balanced feel to the blog. Two Footed Tackle One of the best football blogs around, Two Footed Tackle offers intelligent posts ranging from non-league to Premiership, from the USA to the UK. With a collection of excellent writers in their stable you are sure to find something you like on the site. They also boast an excellent podcast hosted by Gary Andrews and Chris Nee. The Cynical Challenge This blog is one of my favourites. James Appell, it’s founder, calls himself a Russophile due to his love of travel anywhere distinctly Eastern Bloc but thankfully he also loves football. When these two passions of James’ come together, it leaves us, the reader, with an excellent insight into a massively interesting footballing world that many of us may never experience first hand. The Football Ramble Blog Many of you will know of The Football Ramble. Their award-winning podcast is stuff of legend but their blog offering is also fantastic. With a stable of writers that include Andy Brassell of World Football Phone-in fame, South American expert Rupert Fryer and Chris Nee from Two Footed Tackle, you know their offering will continue to be strong. Cricket Legside Lizzy Lizzy loves cricket and is a bit of a county cricket junkie and luckily for us she is also a fine writer on the game, managing to balance top insight with cynical wit while throwing in numerous cricket related rants for good measure. Lizzy is also great at interacting with her readers and has established a big following on Twitter Cricket with balls If Lizzy is the Queen of cricket bloggers than this blog just may be our King. Cricket with balls author Jarrod Kimber writes fantastically well and has a completely different outlook on things to the bog-standard writer. Covering all forms of the game and from many an angle, you won’t be disappointed if you choose to take a look. NFL Any Given Sunday (Night) Sure we all may stay up one night a year to watch a game of football – football, that is, you predominantly play with your hands – but how many of us follow it week in, week out during the season? The NFL is a massive sport and given time, is a sport you can easily get into. It’s even easier now as a trio of British bloggers have taken it upon themselves to provide you with regular updates, reviews and blogposts explaining the goings on in the world of NFL. The writing is decent and the information is excellent – their Twitter based live blogging is excellent and I can only see bigger things for this new site. Betting and Poker Value Bet Value bet is a site that pretty much does what it says on the tin; sources value in the market (mainly football) and advises on certain selections that may prove profitable. A collection of different punters post there and the advice is generally solid and sensible. Footy Geek A one man tipping site that does pretty well and is always up for some banter on Twitter. Again, mostly focussing on football, hence the blog name, The Footy Geek looks for value in the UK leagues and puts his money where his mouth is. Tao of Poker In terms of poker, Dr Pauly is the man in the know. Having travelled the world following the various poker tours and events, the Tao of Poker is an excellent account of tournament reviews, live blogging, outstanding opinion pieces and an insight on Las Vegas that most degenerates would be jealous of. Highly recommended.
